Courcey Rovers had a close four point win over Kilworth in the Red FM Co SHL Div 3 B at Kilworth on Sunday. It was a keenly contested game with the winners ahead for nearly all the game. The winners had three goals at vital stages that proved crucial in the end.  The South East side got off to a perfect start having the opening five points by Richard Sweetnam, Aidan O'Donovan Tadhg O'Sullivan and D.J, Twomey. Kilworth opened with points by Will Condon and Noel McNamara. By the 12th minute Courcey Rovers were 0-7 to 0-4 ahead. Stephen Nyhan landed two long range frees that had them ahead at the water break 0-9 to 0-4.

Both sides exchanged points with the winners 0-10 to 0-7 clear before Jerry O'Neill had their first goal 1-10 to 0-7. Noel McNamara and Richard Sweetnam exchanged a pointed free that had the South East side 1-11 to 0-8 clear at the break.

Brian Sheehan pointed for the home side on the changeover. Further Kilworth pressure yielded 3 more points in succession by Noel McNamara (2) and Will Condon 1-11 to 0-12. Both sides swopped points as the winners were 1-13 to 0-13 clear. Leo Coffey goaled for Kilworth and levelled at 1-13 each. The winners replied with a Richard Sweetnam goal. Kilworth kept in touch with Noel McNamara very accurate. Just a goal separated the sides at the 2nd water break 

2-15 to 1-15. 

Noel McNamara landed a point from long range. However a 3rd goal for Courcey's by Aidan O'Donovan put his side 5 points clear 3-15 to 

1-16. Denis Coughlan restored the two goal lead with a long range point. Richard Sweetnam had the last score for the winners in the 57th minute. Kilworth tried very hard in the closing moments and Noel McNamara had 3 points in this period. Courcey Rovers held out for a 

four point win.
