Sunday in Ballinspittle the club held the Jeremiah Keohane Minor Hurling Invitational with Cloughduv and Ballymartle taking part. In the first game we played Ballymartle and won on a score line of 3-14 to 1-7. In the second game Cloughduv played Ballymartle defeating them by 2-11 to 2-6. It was all to play for in the final game of Courceys vs Cloughduv. It was a tight game to the finish, with the Cloughduv boys winning out on a score of 1-15 to 2-11. Gary Moloney Chairman of the underage presented the cup to the winning Cloughduv Captain.
The Jeremiah Keohane Cup was presented to the club by relatives of Jeremiah to honour his memory. Jeremiah Keohane was from the The Old Head. He played with Ballinspittle prior to the formation of the club in 1947. His position was full back in both hurling and football. He had 10 West Cork Championship medals. Jeremiah was a proud Courcey man who wore the jersey with pride and passion. As Dens Paul Griffin wrote in the Souvenir Programme of the Official Opening of Pairc Ui Riogain "Jeremiah Keohane - the man of iron - played most of his matches at full back. His rugged strength was a source of inspiration to most of his colleagues and his courage was unquestionable." Jeremiah was also a past Chairman of the adult club. He also gave the club the use of a field in the Old Head for many years for early season training and league games.
