Courceys U12's travelled to Aghada on Saturday, taking part in the "Willie Ryan" memorial hurling tournament. Ten teams were divided into 2 groups. Group 1 had Aghada, Glen Rovers, St Colman's, Erins Own and Ballygiblin. In Group 2 were Courcey, Midleton, Inniscarra, Dungarvan and Fr. O Niells. The winners of each group would contest the Cup Final while the runners-up would contest the Plate Final.
Midleton again proved a little too strong for Courceys in the 1st game as they did, in our own "Johnny Murray Shield" a few weeks back. In the second game Courceys put in a great performance to beat Inniscarra. Well warmed up now, victories over Dungarvan and Fr. O Niells followed.
As winner's of their group's Aghada and Midleton contested the Cup final. Aghada came out on top in a thrilling final.
This left Courceys and Ballygiblin to play the Plate Final. Courceys played some lovely passing hurling in the final and ran out comfortable winners of the Plate.
Compliments and thanks to Aghada for hosting such a well run tournament.
